Like the majority (probably), I bought the cassette before listening to the album in its entirety. And I did end up finding this sound pretty strange, but I think it's what drew me to listen to it multiple times and actually growing to like it a lot. I think the whole movement about seven minutes into Mannerism might be the single most gut punching synth I have ever heard. This whole album shifts and moves in such a bewildering way, suddenly changing from dream-like serenity to nightmarish aggression yet somehow sounding all the better for it. Outstanding work.
